Negative Space...

Negative space in art supports and adds to the image being portrayed. It is the space around and between the subject. At times this space takes on its own shape and absorbs and reflects its own artistic effect adding to the depth of the image itself.

Negative space surrounds everything, and in life it grants the ability to stand out in the norm. To be a single entity in a world filled with forms.

Friendships are to life what negative space is to art. Without them working in the background to support and highlight what we as individuals may not see, the individual may not be as refined and noticed as with this quiet support.

As in art, the support that we as people receive can determine the brilliance of our shine. If we are surrounded by negative space that creates its own portraiture and draws attention away from us then the message of the image is torn between the supporting space and the true message of the piece. These are the friends with whom everything pertains to them, needing you to fix their issues with no one to help you with your own.

Then there are the friends who see when your painting starts to become blue, they add a spot of sunshine to your painting to brighten the blue and lighten your load. These are the friends you need in your negative space. Creating a balance between the negative and the image it supports instilling harmony throughout.

May you find the right balance with your negative spaces and become as brilliant as you are destined to be.
